The Vis Johnson Band

Introduction

The Merseyside based Vis Johnson Band were formed back in 1984, with their first gig being performed in 1985. The band were originally a 5 piece consisting of Dave (drummer), Tony (guitar), Marty (guitar), Tommy (bass) and Dave (singer). They added Azzy (sax) in 1987, and Ste (singer) in 1989 to form the definitive line up that remains in place today, although they did also have a keyboard player in the form of Mark Dowd for a short period of time in 1989.

The band have had a few alcohol related splits over the years, and have had more come backs than Frank Sinatra but are currently still going strong after 25 years. They started in the gutter and are proud to still be there, continually self destructing whenever opportunity arises. But who cares, they are still one of the best live kick ass bands in the whole world, producing a wall of sound like no one else, and they are also available for weddings and barmitzvahs.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy the sights and sounds to be found on this website with much of the material coming from the very early days of VHS and cassette recordings. We've tried to make the best of them but never mind the quality, feel the width. Remember it's all about spirit and soul, and Vis have tons of it, if nothing else!
